CHAPTER 2 — The Footage That Spoke Louder Than Words

The Chief of Security wasted no time.
Within minutes, the massive screen in the lobby flickered to life. Grainy black-and-white footage appeared—timestamped, precise, undeniable.
There I was.
Walking in quietly. Alone. No drama.
Then came them.
My husband—Daniel—and the woman who had replaced me long before I ever knew. Laughing. Whispering. Performing affection like it was currency.
Gasps echoed as the footage continued.
The shove.
Clear. Intentional.
Her hand striking my shoulder. My body hitting the marble floor. The sickening crack that followed.
Someone in the crowd muttered, “Oh my God…”
Then the worst part.
Daniel didn’t help me.
He smiled.
Turned to the audience.
Played the hero.
The screen went black.
No one spoke.
Victor Hale finally turned—his gaze cutting through Daniel like a blade.
“Would you like to explain,” he asked quietly, “why my niece was assaulted in my hospital… by your mistress?”
Daniel’s lips parted, but no words came.
May you like
Because there was nothing left to say.
