Months later, Lily stood beside her father outside a small house with a blue front door.

It wasn't a mansion.

It wasn't surrounded by gates.

But it felt safe.

Arthur handed Lily a small basket.

Inside were brightly colored Easter eggs for the neighborhood children.

Lily smiled.

"You know," she said, "I used to think Easter was just about surviving another family gathering."

Arthur shook his head.

"It's about hope."

She looked at the fading bruises that no longer defined her.

"And second chances."

Richard faced the consequences of the evidence gathered against him, while the investigation into official misconduct continued through the legal process.

As the neighborhood children laughed across the lawn, Arthur realized something important.
