Chapter 3 — The Second Betrayal

The ballroom was no longer a celebration.

It had become an investigation scene.

Guests whispered in disbelief. Cameras flashed. Elena stood frozen, veil trembling slightly as she tried to understand what reality had turned into.

Mia stood alone near the edge of the chaos, still holding her phone.

Her fingers moved slowly.

Not out of confidence.

Out of dread.

She swiped to the next image.

At first, it looked harmless.

Another kitchen shot.

But then Elena saw it.

And everything inside her collapsed.

Standing beside Adrian in that same dark room—

was Lydia Marsh.

The maid of honor.

Elena’s closest friend.

Her chosen sister.

Lydia wasn’t just there.

She was watching.

Calm.

Complicit.

Holding the same vial.

Elena’s breath stopped.

“No…” she whispered.

Mia’s voice broke for the first time.

“I’m sorry… I thought it was just him.”

Adrian, still restrained on the floor, laughed once—empty and sharp.

“You really think I planned it alone?”

The room went silent again.

Every eye turned to Lydia.

She didn’t run.

She didn’t deny it.

She simply looked at Elena.

And smiled.

A small, devastating smile.

As if betrayal had always been the plan.

Elena stepped back.

One step.

Then another.

The wedding veil slipped from her hair and fell onto the marble like a surrender flag.

And in that moment, the dream wedding died completely.

ENDING

The police led Adrian away first.

Then turned toward Lydia.

But Elena didn’t move.

She just stared at the collapsed wedding cake.

Slowly melting.

Like everything she believed in.

Mia lowered her phone.

“I’m sorry,” she whispered again.

But Elena didn’t answer.

Because the truth was no longer just betrayal.

It was realization.

She had never been the target of one enemy.

She had been surrounded by two.

And the wedding was never meant to be a beginning.

It was the final trap.
