The guests stopped whispering.
The silence was heavier than before.
“What?...” Vanessa breathed, clutching her diamond necklace.
“This venue belongs to the Vance Country Club,” Arthur stated.
“Which means you are currently trespassing on my private property.”
Arthur looked over his shoulder at the chief of security.
“Remove the bride and groom from the premises.”
“Immediately.”
Four large security guards in black suits marched up the aisle.
Julian didn’t fight them. He stood up and ran toward the parking lot, leaving his family behind.
But Vanessa went hysterical.
“Get your hands off me!” she screamed as a guard grabbed her arm.
Her expensive veil ripped against a floral arch.
Her white heels slipped on the grass.
She looked back at the crowd, but her “wealthy friends” turned their backs.
Nobody wanted to be seen near a woman who crossed Arthur Vance.
Arthur didn't watch her get dragged away.
He turned back to Clara, his expression instantly melting into warmth.
He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small velvet box.
He opened it.
Inside sat a flawless, rare blue diamond ring that made Vanessa’s look like glass.
The remaining guests gasped in awe.
“I wanted to wait until our anniversary,” Arthur said softly to Clara.
“But I think today is the perfect day to show the world who you are.”
He slipped the ring onto her finger.
“My wife. The real queen of this empire.”
Clara smiled through fresh tears, burying her face in his chest.
The golden wedding lights shone down on them as the piano music swelled again.
The sister who wanted humiliation received total ruin.
And the sister who stayed humble inherited the world.
