Weeks later, the house felt different.

Lighter.

Warmer.

Daniel canceled trips. Turned down deals. For the first time in years, he was home—not just physically, but fully present.

He learned Ethan’s favorite breakfast.

Helped with homework.

Sat through movies he didn’t understand.

And slowly… the distance between them disappeared.

One evening, as they sat on the porch watching the sunset, Ethan leaned against him.

“Are you leaving again?”

Daniel shook his head.

“No.”

“Promise?”

Daniel smiled, placing an arm around him.

“I promise.”
