CHAPTER 1 — The Fall Beneath the Chandelier
The marble hall was silent except for her breath.
The woman in the dark blue velvet dress lay beneath the crystal chandelier, its light scattering across the blood at the corner of her lips.
Above her stood her husband.

And the woman he brought into their home.
“You are nothing without my family name,” he said coldly, as if pronouncing a sentence.
The mistress laughed softly behind him, twirling a strand of silver hair.
“Look at you now… pathetic.”
A few guests pretended not to watch. Others watched too closely.
The protagonist did not respond.
She only blinked slowly, as if memorizing every face in the room.
Like she was collecting debts.
Then—
The heavy double doors at the end of the hall suddenly opened.
A sound like thunder.
Everyone turned.
