Chapter 4 — The Fall of a King

Andrew lost everything within a month.

His board seat.

His reputation.

His friends.

Even the mansion.

Escalante Global legally reclaimed every property purchased through corporate assets.

The day movers arrived...

Andrew stood alone in the empty ballroom where he had once ordered Mariana to kneel.

His voice echoed through the vacant house.

"I was wrong."

No one answered.

For the first time in years...

Silence became his punishment.

Days later, he requested one meeting.

Mariana agreed.

They met inside a quiet botanical garden.

No lawyers.

No cameras.

Only memories.

Andrew looked older.

Smaller.

"I loved you."

Mariana smiled sadly.

"I know."

"I destroyed everything."

"Yes."

"I don't deserve forgiveness."

"No."

He lowered his eyes.

"But I wanted you to hear me say it."

"I traded the woman who believed in me..."

"...for people who fed my pride."

A long silence passed.

Finally Mariana stood.

"I forgave you a long time ago."

Hope flashed across his face.

Then she finished.

"But forgiveness isn't permission to come back."

She walked away without looking behind her.

This time...

Andrew was the one left standing alone.
