Chapter 2: Every Lie Had a Witness

Detective Elena Brooks interviewed me before sunrise.

She asked only one question.

"Did he intend to kill you?"

I answered honestly.

"He intended to make sure no one found me until morning."

That was enough.

Meanwhile, Daniel arrived carrying two encrypted hard drives.

"The cameras worked."

He connected them to the detective's laptop.

The footage began.

Nathan leading me toward the freezer.

Nathan checking that no employees remained.

Nathan locking the steel door.

Nathan pulling on the handle twice to make sure it couldn't be opened from inside.

Then...

His voice.

Crystal clear.

"When they find her tomorrow, they'll call it equipment failure."

The room fell silent.

The detectives exchanged looks.

Nathan's attorney lowered his head.

But Daniel wasn't finished.

"We recovered deleted emails."

Hundreds of them.

Hidden bank transfers.

False invoices.

A secret agreement with his fiancée, Vanessa.

If Claire died...

Nathan inherited controlling shares of the company through a forged succession package.

He hadn't just planned a murder.

He had planned an entire corporate takeover.

The detectives immediately obtained additional search warrants.

By noon, financial investigators had frozen every account connected to Nathan's shell companies.
